5 die in taxi accident
…5 people burned to death and 11 others were injured in a taxi roll-over accident on the R 70 between Senekal and Ventersburg at around midday. Exact details to the cause of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation.
The taxi seemed to have lost control and overturned coming to rest on its roof with the vehicle totally engulfed in flames.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the accident to find the twisted remains of the taxi well alight with 5 people still trapped in the inferno one of them a 3 year old child.
Tragically they had all burned to death. Four passengers sustained serious injuries one of them a 2year old boy who’s mother and 3 year old sibling had burned to death. Seven commuters miraculously escaped from the carnage with only minor injuries.
Medics from various services worked fervently to stabilise the injured before transporting them to an area hospital in Senekal for the care that they required.
